Rock in Rio, one of the world’s largest and most iconic music festivals, takes place in the vibrant city of Rio de Janeiro. Spanning over 400,000 m², the festival features four major stages, surrounded by themed areas like Rock Street Asia, the Rock District, and a VIP Gourmet Plaza with diverse dining options.
MTD has been a trusted water infrastructure provider for multiple Rock in Rio editions, including Rio de Janeiro, Lisbon, and Las Vegas. For the 2019 edition in Rio, MTD delivered:
The Rock in Rio organizers requested MTD to design, install, and manage the temporary water infrastructure across the vast festival grounds. This included connecting toilet containers, public water fountains, restaurants, and various themed areas, ensuring safe and consistent water access throughout the event.
Managing water distribution across 400,000 m² was a logistical feat, especially with a peak consumption of 300 m³/hour. Coordinating the installation of 30 km of piping and deploying over 100 pumps required precise planning and seamless teamwork. Additionally, ensuring that all 2,000 toilets, kitchens, and water stations operated without interruption presented challenges, especially in the high-traffic areas like the VIP/Gourmet Plaza and Rock District.
MTD successfully delivered a reliable and efficient water system, enabling uninterrupted services across all festival zones. The team of six technicians installed and monitored the extensive network, guaranteeing optimal water flow and maintaining safety standards. This effort marked MTD’s third successful edition as a supplier in Rio, and future editions showcased the same level of expertise and precision. The project demonstrated MTD’s capability to handle large-scale events with precision, ensuring festival-goers could enjoy the experience without concern.
