In November 2014, MTD developed and installed a sustainable water system for a work platform in the North Sea, ensuring that all 40 employees on board had access to safe drinking water and efficient wastewater management.
MTD provided a tailored water solution for a platform accommodating approximately 40 employees. The project included:
The client required MTD to set up a sustainable water system on a remote North Sea platform. This involved converting seawater into safe drinking water and treating wastewater from kitchens, toilets, and showers so it could be discharged back into the sea according to MARPOL standards.
Operating in the harsh conditions of the North Sea presented logistical and technical challenges. The seawater needed to be processed to meet strict WHO guidelines, while the wastewater treatment system had to ensure compliance with MARPOL regulations for safe discharge. Additionally, setting up a monitoring system for real-time oversight from the head office in Tilburg was crucial for maintaining high water quality standards.
MTD successfully delivered an innovative and compliant water system, providing the platform’s crew with safe drinking water and efficient wastewater management. The daily treatment capacity of 12 m³ ensured a continuous supply and reliable wastewater disposal. Remote monitoring from Tilburg allowed for real-time quality control, ensuring that the water met all safety regulations. This project demonstrated MTD’s expertise in delivering robust and sustainable water solutions, even in challenging offshore environments.
